Abstract:
It has been a new experimental mechanics technique to combine industrial Computer Tomography and Digital Volume Correlation to measure interior 3D deformation and strain in the solid object. In this paper, an experimental mechanics platform was built based on industrial Computer Tomography, homemade loading setup and Digital Volume Correlation technique. This platform includes principle introduction part, numerical virtual experiment part, loading and scanning in-situ experiment part, deformation calculation part and results export part. With this platform, the 3D displacement fields in the samples under uniaxial compression, 3-point bending, 4-point bending, single point loading and tensile tests can be measured. By taking rock and composite as examples the applications of the platform are presented.
