Objective To evaluate multislice CT(MSCT) in the diagnosis of central pulmonary embolism. Methods 6 patients suspected of pulmonary embolism were examined with MSCT. Three-dimensional imaging methods were used in every case. Results The findings of intraluminal opacification in pulmonary artery, dilated main pulmonary artery and pulmonary infarction were demonstrated in all 6 cases. The presence of intraluminal lesions in pulmonary artery was showed as a partial filling defect or complete filling defect Conclusions MSCT is an effective and noninvasive method for the diagnosis of central pulmonary embolism.
