  • Objective: To discuss the diagnostic value of 64-slice multislice computed tomography angiography for symptomatic carotid artery stenosis. Methods: By collecting the angiographic documents of 128 patients with ischemic stroke and 75 patients with non-ischemic stroke,we adopt 64-slice multislice computed tomography angiography to analyze the type of plaques and the narrowing of bilateral carotid artery.Result: The patients with ischemic stroke have various plaques and the occurrence of soft plaques was more popular than that of control group. The narrowing rate of carotid artery was 77.3%,higher than control group. As for the experimental case group, the numbers of patients with common carotid artery stenosis were less than that of the internal carotid artery stenosis.Furthermore, there were 35 cases with internal carotid artery stenosis. The next were right internal carotid artery stenosis, left common carotid artery stenosis and right common carotid artery stenosis,31,19 and 14 cases, respectively. Conclusion: 64-slice multislice computed tomography angiography can not only evaluate the number and property of the plaques, but also can evaluate the narrowing and predict the occlusion of the artery, therefore has significant value in diagnosis of symptomatic carotid stenosis.
