Evaluation of Carotid Artery in Patients with Pregnancy-induced Hypertension by Ultrasound Arterial Analysis

  • Objective To explore the effect of ultrasonic arterial analysis on the evaluation of carotid artery elasticity, radial strain and strain rate in patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome (PIH). Method Retrospectively analyzed 36 patients with PIH, who were treated in our hospital between March 2016 and March 2017, as the observation group. At the same time selected 50 cases of normal pregnancy that were checked in our hospital over the same period as the control group. Applied color Doppler ultrasonic diagnostic instrument and ultrasonic artery assessment quantitative analysis software to track the movement of carotid artery wall in subjects. Made a statistics comparison of the elastic parameters of carotid artery, Radial Strain (RS) and Radial Strain Rate (RSR) of two groups. Results: The blood vessels stiffness β and Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV) of pregnant women in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group. However, the Arterial Compliance (AC) was significantly smaller than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (<i<P</i<<0.05), There was no significant difference in the Augmentation Index (AI) (<i<P</i<<0.05) between the two groups, The RS and RSR of pregnant women in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (<i<P</i<<0.05). Finally, the Pearson analysis showed that there existed significant negative correlation between RS and PWV of the observation group (<i<r</i<=0-0.911, <i<P</i<<0.05). Conclusion It can timely find the change of PIH vascular elasticity to apply artery analysis technique in PIH. And it can effectively prevent before the vascular morphology do not change. RS and RSR can be used as effective indicators to reflect the changes of vascular elasticity of PIH, and RS is more sensitive than RSR.
